NTV’s Larry and Police inspector general David Kimaiyo on Thursday night engaged each other on fierce exchange on twitter which ended up in a rather unusual ending.
Larry in a post to thousands of his followers reported on a supposed blast at JKIA last night.
“Scene of blast at JKIA. Operations said to be back to normal at Unit 1 Departures No casualties from the JKIA blast. Eyewitnesses claim somebody dropped something into a dustbin moments before it blew up” tweeted Madowo while updating on the blast.
From his twitter account,the police IG sorted to give official position on the incident;
“It was not a blast at JKIA but some papers caught fire after a loose light bulb fell into a dustbin that caused panic at Java coffee shop. No casualties and no cause of alarm. Officers are at the scene and operation has resumed at JKIA Unit 1. When the loose bulb fell down it bursted making an explosive sound like thus causing panic.” Stated Kimaiyo.
However,the statesmen did not get well with Madowo who had initially broke the new,it is here where things took a drastic change following this;
“Whoever is tweeting as @IGkimaiyo please stop trolling us and go home. You’re drunk”said Madowo in what appeared as an insult to theIG. He assumed that it wasn’t Kimaiyo himself tweeting but rather his assistant. Unamused,the IG quickly retaliated and demanded an apology from Madowo;
@IGkimaiyo: @LarryMadowo apologize to the public, myself and @LGtwits (NMG boss) for such words. Call me on this number 0722444110. I’m waiting for your call. IG
He then replied to the demand alleging the line wasn’t going through expanding his theory that it was not Kimaiyo himself tweeting;
“I called the number several times. No response. This proves that the IG is not tweeting for himself”stated Madowo.
Despite all that,the fury of IG was not letting it go and this is what he said next to Madowo
“LarryMadowo whether bust/burst you can’t insult me. If you don’t tweet for yourself don’t assume others don’t. I demand an apology”
Drama aside was there a blast at the airport and the police moved in to cover it up with the bulb theory and is it possible for a bulb to bust and ignite fire? Kimaiyo is expected to appear on the trend today,ironically with his abuser as the show’s host.
Was Madowo right in “insulting” the Kimaiyo and for clearance the IG is a teetotaler.
