Media personality, comedian, and content creator Oga Obinna has reportedly blocked Kenyan uprising boxer Potifus Odipo, widely known as Majembe, following a heated WhatsApp exchange over the upcoming Vurugu 2 Boxing Fight scheduled for June 20 at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi.
During a recent online broadcast, Obinna claimed he personally offered KSh 500,000 to facilitate a special bout between Majembe and a Somali boxer.
In the arrangement, the winner was set to take home KSh 350,000 while the loser would receive KSh 150,000.
However, Majembe reportedly turned down the offer, with Obinna alleging that the boxer’s management advised him against accepting the terms.
Obinna further claimed that disagreements also arose over fight attire, stating that he expected fighters to wear branded sponsor outfits in the ring.
According to him, Majembe resisted discussions about the type of clothing he would wear on fight day, escalating tensions between the two.
As the confrontation intensified, Obinna eventually decided to block Majembe on WhatsApp.
Confirming the fallout, Majembe said he will not be part of the Vurugu 2.0 lineup.
Speaking in a recent interview, he cited differences with the organiser, saying disagreements over contract terms led to his exit from the event.
“He has blocked me because we could not come to an agreement. I will not be at Vurugu 2.0. I had already started training for the match, but we did not reach an understanding with the promoter. There are some terms that we could not agree on, which meant I had to be removed from Vurugu 2.0,” he said.
According to Majembe, most of their communication had been conducted over the phone due to busy schedules.
He also noted that before formal negotiations, he had already received a contract containing clauses he considered questionable.
