Tragedy has befallen the family of Nominated Member of Parliament David Ole Sankok after his first born son reportedly shot himself dead at their home in Narok.
The incident happened this afternoon (May 2) at the family home in Ewaso Nyiro, and involved Sankok’s gun.
Narok CCIO Mwenda Ithaiba said the boy was a Form Three student at a school in Kericho.
“From the preliminary investigations, we have established that the boy was meant to go back to school last week but he didn’t,” said Mwenda. “He spent the money that was meant for shopping and returned home.”
Mwenda reveals that MP Sankok had travelled for the week, and insisted that the boy reports back to the school for a new school term accompanied by a guardian due to the lateness.
“The information we have gathered is that an argument ensued and Sankok left the house for Ewaso Nyiro trading centre to speak to some people. It is at this moment that the boy accessed the family safe and reached for the pistol with which he shot himself,” added Mwenda.
