Nairobi West Hospital Watches Senior Officer Die In His Car After Refusing To Admit Him

In one of the worst possible incidents, a piece of extremely disheartening footage highlighting the painful saga of a life unjustly lost due to negligence from a group of insensitive medical practitioners at the Nairobi West Hospital has emerged on social media.

In the sad video which was shared on Twitter by the deceased outraged son, the staff at the once well-received health facility completely ignored the family and refused to attend to his father who was still stuck in their family car due to his critical state.

According to Caleb Sisqo, as he identifies himself on social media, medics at Nairobi West Hospital claimed his dad, who is a former police officer, had already passed on, despite him insisting to them that some signs [like the fact that his body was still warm] showed otherwise.

“I’m at the hospital entrance and nobody is attending to my father. They are saying my father is dead, but he is not dead! We are still in the personal car, at the entrance,” he cries out in the clip, still in disbelief of the treatment his father was being accorded despite having selflessly served the country for years.

In the background, a woman, presumably his mother, can be heard loudly wailing for help but to no avail.

Can a hospital refuse to admit a patient?

Generally, hospitals have a duty to treat the sick and cannot deny you treatment because of your age, sex, religious affiliation, or many other certain characteristics.

But unfortunately, in the modern times we live in, most facilities like the Nairobi West Hospital operate as businesses which means that in most times, they make business decisions in relation to how (and even if) a patient should be admitted or treated.

However, In some instances, like Caleb’s case above where doctors did not even bother to clearly ascertain his dad’s true condition before concluding to either grant or deny him entry, hospitals can sometimes be held liable for injuries or deaths that result from such refusals, which means he could potentially sue them.

What have Nairobi West Hospital said about this?

At the publishing of this post, the Nairobi West Hospital were yet to say a word regarding the incident.
