Lawyer Accuses DPP Haji Of Sending Him Death Threats

Lawyer Danstan Omari representing three petitioners seeking to remove Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji from officer over gross misconduct claims his life is in danger.

While addressing the media after filing a third petition against the DPP to the Public Service Commission, the lawyer claimed that the remarks made by Haji, on October 28 2021, while addressing members of the National Council for the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) in Mombasa amounts to threats.

In the alleged speech, Haji reportedly said that he is a war veteran and nothing can be done to him.

“The DPP made the remarks in front of the Chief Justice, DCI and the Inspector General of police, all of whom, we are planning to use as witnesses in court,” Omari said.

“We will also ask the court to order the police IG to provide us with security since we have been threatened by a person with immense power,” he added.

Omari noted that Haji should be removed from the officer for abusing his office. He claimed that the Haji breached the oath of secrecy as a former Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service by revealing his engagement in the war against Al-Shabaab.

Through his application to the Public Service Commission, Omari said that Haji action was also an explosive exposure of the delicate security operation of the Kenyan soldier in Somalia.

Omari said that Haji action demonstrated that he lacks emotional intelligence and his unprofessional conduct would cloud his performance ad the DPP.

“Under the police code of conduct and ethics, a public officer is not allowed to divulge information he acquired in the course of service. Haji’s public utterances amounted to the disclosure of government covert operations which acts are meant to remain secrecy,” Omari said in the petition.
