The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal has suspended the decision by Jubilee Party to expel its members who hold nomination positions in the Senate.
The tribunal’s chairperson, Desma Nungo, said Tuesday that it had suspended the ruling Party’s resolution to allow the affected members get a hearing in court.
Senators Isaac Mwaura, Millicent Omanga and two others moved to court Tuesday, seeking to overturn the Party’s decision.
Jubilee Party on Monday, February 8 expelled Nominated Senators Isaac Mwaura, Seneta Mary Yiane, Waqo Naomi Jilo, Millicent Omanga, Prengei Victor and Iman Dekow.
“The expulsions are with immediate effect and have been communicated to the Senate and the Registrar of Political Parties,” the ruling party stated.
The Party’s Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju, said the decision was arrived at after Jubilee’s National Management Committee met on Monday and deliberated on a report filed by the Disciplinary Committee.
The six ejected members are accused of breaching Jubilee Party’s code of conduct.
