‘I will not go for an interview in Nairobi hotel’ – Ruto ridicules competitors for meeting Mt Kenya Foundation team

Deputy President William Ruto has on Sunday October 10, 2021 ridiculed his 2022 opponents who have been holding meetings, now dubbed as interviews for the presidency, with the Mount Kenya Foundation.

The second in command, who was speaking at a whistle-stop rally in Isiolo County, stated that he will seek mandate from the lowly placed persons in the community and not billionaires like his prospective opponents.

“Unlike other presidential candidates, I will not go for an interview in Nairobi hotels. I will be interviewed by the common wananchi,” he said.

Ruto was speaking in reference to the recent hotel meetings between Mount Kenya tycoons and ODM leader Raila Odinga as well as One Kenya Alliance principals.

According to Ruto, it was imprudent for a select number of businessmen to decide the political trajectory for Kenyans against their wish.

The tycoons, who announced that they will not meet the second in command, are set to pick a preferred candidate between Raila and the one of the OKA principals. The group will then present their choice of candidate to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
