Company Director Charged With Stealing KSh2.1 Million

NAIROBI, Kenya — A company director has been charged with allegedly stealing KSh2.1 million belonging to a company in a case before a Makadara court.

Christine Njeri Wanjiru appeared before trial magistrate Juliana Ndengeri on Friday and was charged with stealing by a director, contrary to Section 282 of the Penal Code.

According to the charge sheet, Wanjiru allegedly committed the offence on diverse dates between June 15 and August 11, 2026, at an unspecified location within Kenya.

The prosecution alleges that Wanjiru, being a director of the company, fraudulently stole KSh2.1 million belonging to the firm.

Wanjiru was arrested on August 27, 2026, before being presented in court the following day.

During the bail hearing, the prosecution asked the court to consider the amount allegedly stolen when determining her release terms.

The State argued that the alleged sum was substantial and urged the court to take the circumstances of the case into account.

Wanjiru denied the charge and was released on a KSh1 million bond or KSh1 million cash bail.

The case will be mentioned on December 2, 2026, as proceedings continue.
