Lodge Threatens To Sue Broke Kalonzo’s Wiper Party

A letter in which the management of Maanzoni Lodge in Athi River, Machakos county, is demanding officials of the Wiper Democratic Movement pay outstanding bills is causing a storm within the party. In the letter signed by Kanini Musau, the management queries failure by the party to honour promises to settle outstanding conferencing, accommodation and catering bills.

The letter reads: “Your latest promise via a Whatsapp message was to pay in full on November 13, 2020- a promise you failed to keep. We have opted to not engage our lawyers as yet but we implore you to consider this letter the final correspondence from us on the matter.” The letter is addressed to Wiper secretary-general Judith Sijeny.

The party has been asked to settle the outstanding bills within 14 days of receipt, failure to which they would involve their lawyers. The party leader is Kalonzo Musyoka. Maanzoni Lodge is owned by Chris Musau who is a brother of late Mutula Kilonzo’s second wife, Nduku who is the stepmother of Makueni senator Mutula Junior of Wiper. The land where it stands was owned by Chris’ father, the legendary Musau Mwania.
