Controversy Surrounds Meru CECM Nominee Joy Karwitha Over Criminal Past

Joy Karwitha, 31, has sparked widespread discussion on social media following her nomination as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Lands by Meru’s newly sworn-in Governor, Reverend Isaac Mutuma.

Her appointment has raised eyebrows due to her criminal record. In 2023, Karwitha faced charges of stealing a Range Rover Evoque valued at KSh 3.2 million from her employer.

Court records from the Milimani Law Courts, presided over by Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphine Alego, indicate that she allegedly stole the vehicle on September 30, 2023, from Crescent Business Center in Nairobi County.

Further fueling the controversy, unverified reports have surfaced alleging that Karwitha is romantically linked to a prominent Member of Parliament from Meru. These claims have intensified public scrutiny of her nomination.
