Nyayo House: Rogue Immigration Officer In Dubious Somali Visa Deala

An immigration officer based at Nyayo House 7th floor, one Wario Abdikadir, who is in charge of issuing referral visas for Somalis is said to be applying double standards while executing his duties, Weekly Citizen is sad to report.

Wario is said to be using his connection to lobby for a friendly face to replace the outgoing immigration director Alexander Muteshi. Immigration falls under Interior ministry, and Wario enjoyed protection from outgoing CS Fred Matiang’i office.

Wario, although holding the rank of a junior officer, is one of the richest persons at the Immigration Department that falls under the Office of the President. He has been favouring one agent, Abdulharam Mohammed, to issue visas for applicants engaging in questionable activities in Somalia.

Other agents are blocked on flimsy grounds by Wario as he favours Mohammed. Travel agents who apply for visas are rejected on basis of security clearance.

The cartel has brought on board National Intelligence Services officers seconded at the Immigration Department to smoothen and level their operations.

Initially, the cartel link with NIS was Evans Kamau, an officer stationed at Nyayo House but who was recently transferred. Kamau was replaced by NIS officers Grace Wanja and Jacob Mulu at the immigration desk. Then shrewd Mohammed, with Kamau’s helping hand, has managed to compromise the new NIS officers.

We have reliable information that Mohammed, the broker agent, held a secret meeting with Wanja who he commonly refers to as Madam and Mulu. Kamau name featured prominently during the m e e t i n g. Mohammed ope nly boasted how Kamau was on his payroll and worked well without any trouble.

D u r i n g the meeting, a business deal was sealed and as such, Mohammed boasts it is business as usual even with Kamau’s exist. He told those he works with that he parted with Sh4 million in the deal that also involved Wario.

As a result, other agents who make referral visa applicants online have been locked or blocked with Mohammed having a field day, thus enjoying monopoly.

What is emerging is the fact that despite engaging in sensitive issue of visas, Mohammed’s Kenya citizenship is suspicious and questionable. He is said to be from Somali but bought Kenyan identification papers to camouflage his real identity.

Mohammed is known to operate in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area if not at Nyayo House in Wario’s office.

The online application clicks favour Mohammed’s agency. Weekly Citizen has established that, one time, agents bitterly confronted Wario, and raised a series of complaints. Instead, Wario implicated NIS as being responsible to secure the visas.

What surprised them was the fact that Mohammed afterwards laughed off the matter boasting that he was in bed with NIS officers at Nyayo House, and regularly visits their office based on 24 floor.

For now, agents dealing with Somali visa referral that has NIS involved cannot access the process due to the cartel of Wario, Mohammed and NIS officers stationed at Nyayo House. Genuine agents have been blocked from clearing their clients thus rendered useless.
