All is not well at Kitale National Polytechnic. John Akola Otieno is the senior Principal. Since his arrival at the institution, he is accused of not being a team player but a lone ranger.

The principal is known to manipulate tender awards and recently differed with a section of management team during the recent graduation ceremony. An insider reveals the graduation cost was were highly inflated with live broadcast on KTN TV being questioned.

In fact questions are being asked as to why the graduation was aired live when the state had relaxed protocols on covid-19 to allow gatherings.
Currently the institution is being rundown. Stakeholder want the principal to explain how much was paid to KTN for live coverage for 3rd graduation held on 8th December 2021 from 10:00am.

Already a number of senior staff are not comfortable with Otieno’s Style of management. He is said to favour his own companies in lucrative tender awards.

According to the staff who sought anonymity, Otieno is arrogant and has been filling positions at the institution with his cronies. Currently bad blood exists between Otieno and his two deputy principals.
