Trouble At Kenya Pipeline As Senior Managers Rebel Against MD Macharia

Trouble is simmering at Kenya Pipeline Company with senior managers openly rebelling against the leadership style of current MD Irungu Macharia. The MD before his current station was Director of strategy at Total Kenya where the company faced many challenges including adulteration of fuel.

Sources say, currently Irungu is favouring Total in fuel supplies against other competitors mostly Kenyans of Somali origin some even operating world-class petrol stations such as Shell.

Talk is rife, over sh 300 million cannot be accountable for the last six months the new MD has been in office. New tenders are also being awarded in suspicious circumstances.

His close ally and wheeler-dealer is one Patrick, a businessman brokering deals and tenders at KPC on behalf of the MD. The businessman is said to secretly hide kickbacks for the MD to avoid tracing by relevant state agencies involved in the fight against corruption.

Petroleum Ps Andrew Kamau is his godfather according to insiders. The PS and MD have has no time for cabinet secretary John Munyes.

A number of top managers fearing arrest in matters they are being forced to sanction as it happened at KEMSA Covid 19 multi-billion tender awards are now out to expose ill happenings at KPC. They claim Kalenjin holding senior posts are being targeted and the future bleak.

The MD was recently hit by Covid 19 avoiding office but others say it was just a ploy to avoid duties after he discovered the ground was hot for him due to his planned recruitment of a senior manager in human resource department backfired.
