Kapsaret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has launched a scathing attack on Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of demanding a staggering Ksh300 million in exchange for supporting the broad-based government.
Speaking during a public rally on Friday, July 25, 2025, Sudi criticised Sifuna for opposing the unity deal between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga simply because he was not included in the behind-the-scenes negotiations.
“Kwa ndugu yetu Sifuna, ule mtu mwenye hataki maendeleo… shida ni brokers wako kila mahali. Tunajua Sifuna anakasirika sana kwa sababu hakuwekwa kwa panel ya kukutanisha hawa watu,” said Sudi.
Raila-Ruto dialogue
He insisted there was no committee or secretariat behind the agreement, but rather a direct dialogue between the two leaders.
“Hakukuwa na any panel hapo Sifuna, ni rais mwenyewe waliongea na Raila Odinga na wakakubaliana in very simple terms yakwamba washikanishe nchi na waiunganishe,” he said.
Sudi further claimed that Sifuna was bitter after missing out on involvement in the negotiations and demanded a hefty payout to endorse the arrangement.
“Najua wewe uliuliza milioni mia tatu ili utuunge mkono… Hatuezi kukupea hata ndururu. Hiyo pesa tutajenga nayo barabara huko kwenu,” he declared.
The outspoken MP dismissed Sifuna’s criticism of the political agreement as driven by personal frustration and financial interests.
He accused the senator of engaging in political broking rather than offering meaningful leadership, telling him to “enda utafute Gachagua” if he was interested in backroom deals.

Sudi’s remarks come amid growing political tensions within ODM and Kenya Kwanza factions over Sifuna’s damning remarks on the condition of the broad-based government.
Sifuna had painted a grim picture of the state of the UDA-ODM memorandum of understanding, noting that it was as good as dead, following the government’s violation of some of the 10-point agendas that formed the basis of the agreement.
Raila’s response to Sifuna
Raila Odinga has since assured the public that he will respond to Sifuna through the internal party structures in ODM after the senator made damning remarks on the condition of the broad-based government.ODM party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna at a past function. PHOTO/@TheODMparty/X
Speaking during the ODM County delegates conference in Kakamega on Friday, July 25, 2025, Raila stated that it would be wrong to respond to Sifuna through the press.
“I cannot publicly respond to Sifuna through the press, but I can wait for him at the Central Committee, National Executive Committee (NEC), and party organs; and after we agree on a position, we ask Sifuna to speak to the press and state our collective position,” Raila said.
