Flamboyant Nairobi doctor Mbiti Mwondi, famed for his high-flying lifestyle and glitzy social media posts, has ignited online buzz after revealing that he ended his marriage upon discovering his wife was allegedly running an elaborate con scheme.
In a candid post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the well-known medic often seen vacationing in Dubai, partying in swanky city clubs, and rocking top-tier designer fashion disclosed that the woman he once called the love of his life swindled not only him but also several of his close friends.
“Of all of them I have my $50,000 held somewhere unknown making me the most disillusioned,” Mbiti lamented, adding that he had grown suspicious months ago after speaking to a woman identified as Cynthia and others who were similarly conned.
Mbiti made it clear that he ended the relationship once he detected signs of “fishy” dealings and “disingenuousness,” choosing to quietly walk away while others remained unaware of what was happening behind the scenes.
“I don’t con people and I don’t associate myself with any frivolous or fishy activities therefore I don’t mind the trolls,” he stated, brushing off critics and defending his own reputation amid the unfolding scandal.
The tweet, which garnered tens of thousands of views within hours, has sent shockwaves across social media where many had once idolized the couple’s seemingly glamorous union. Kenyans were left stunned by the revelations, with many questioning how such a lavish love story could unravel so catastrophically.
“I definitely benefit nothing from all of this,” he added, insisting he was merely a victim in what he called a “sad and unfortunate situation.”
While Mbiti chose not to divulge further details out of respect for others involved, the online post marked a clear attempt to publicly clear his name as whispers about his wife’s alleged con games began to circulate.
