Juja MP Koimburi Faked His Own Abduction for Political Gain – DCI

Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has come under fire after investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service revealed that his alleged abduction was staged.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Amin Mohamed disclosed that the abduction was a well-orchestrated political ploy involving the MP and several of his associates. Speaking during a press briefing at DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, Mohamed said they had traced Koimburi’s movements and uncovered inconsistencies in the narrative provided.

“We’ve accounted for all his movements from the church event he attended up to the hotel where he spent the night. There is no evidence he was abducted,” said Mohamed.

Investigators were also denied access to the MP during his brief hospital admission, further raising suspicions. According to the DCI, Koimburi collaborated with close associates—Juja CDF Chairman Peter Kiratu, Cyrus Kieru Muhia, and Karanja Gatana—to simulate his kidnapping.

Evidence gathered shows that Kiratu orchestrated the use of a Subaru Forester belonging to Muhia under the pretense of providing extra security during a church service in Mugutha. On May 25, the group drove to the church area, where two men forcibly ushered the MP into the Subaru, simulating an abduction.

They later drove him to Jacaranda Coffee Research Centre via Kambogo Road, where he transferred to a Honda CRV. Muhia was left behind with instructions to remain silent.

The police have vowed to take legal action against Koimburi once investigations are complete, warning public officials against exploiting security systems for political theatrics.
