Gachagua Names Jayesh Saini and Adil Khawaja as Architects of State House Corruption

Nairobi – January 28, 2025

In a bold and direct accusation, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pinpointed Jayesh Saini, the owner of Nairobi West and Lifecare Hospitals, and Adil Khawaja, Chairman of Safaricom Ltd, as the masterminds behind a web of corruption at State House. Gachagua made these claims during the launch of the Democratic Action Party office in Nairobi on Monday.

Gachagua stated that Saini and Khawaja, whom he described as power brokers, have unrestricted access to State House where they allegedly conspire with President William Ruto on schemes to misappropriate public funds. “These two individuals are always at State House, planning on how to steal public money with President Ruto,” Gachagua remarked, indicating a deep-seated network of corruption influencing major government decisions.

Central to his allegations is the involvement of Saini and Khawaja in securing a multi-billion tender related to the controversial Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme. This scheme, aimed at overhauling healthcare funding in Kenya, has been under scrutiny for its opaque procurement processes and alleged favoritism.

The accusations come at a time when public trust in government integrity is already strained, following numerous reports of corruption linked to high-profile figures. Web sources and posts on X have highlighted the connections between Saini, Khawaja, and various government contracts, including those involving Adani Group’s deals in Kenya.

Gachagua’s speech was accompanied by a video where he further exposed what he describes as “State House cartels” linked directly to President Ruto. This video has sparked significant discussion online, with many calling for further investigations into the claims.

The implications of these allegations are profound, potentially affecting the political landscape and the operations of major corporations implicated in the scandal. Critics argue that such accusations might be politically motivated, given Gachagua’s recent impeachment and his ongoing political activities. However, supporters of Gachagua see this as a necessary exposure of corruption at the highest levels of government.

As reactions pour in, the public is divided. Some demand accountability and transparency, while others question the motives behind Gachagua’s statements. The government has yet to respond formally to these allegations, but this story is expected to unfold further, possibly influencing upcoming political maneuvers and public policy.

For now, the spotlight remains intensely on Saini, Khawaja, and the corridors of State House, as Kenyans await official statements and potential investigations into these serious claims of corruption at the heart of the nation’s governance.
