Autopsy Results Reveals What Killed Gichugu Returning Officer Geoffrey Gitobu

The post-mortem was done by Dr. Simon Amok of Independent Medico Legal Unit, Dr. Ayum Macharia (Family and IEBC representative), and Dr. Harrison Kiambati a government pathologist at the Nanyuki Cottage hospital morgue where the body has been since his sudden death on Monday

The pathologists say that Gitobu died of pulmonary embolism, a condition that occurs when a blood clot gets stuck in an artery in the lung, blocking blood flow to part of the lungs.

The autopsy further reveals that the IEBC official had blood clot within the pulmonary glands and moderate anaemia, and also lacked enough oxygen. He had no physical injuries.

His family, however, says that he had no history of hypotension or diabetes.

Laikipia CCIO Onesimus Towett says that samples from the body had been taken for further laboratory investigation.

Laikipia County Commander John Nyoike called on the public to stop spreading speculation over the officers death.
