The Roots Party has summoned its presidential running mate Justina Wamae for a disciplinary meeting on August 26, 2022, over “failure to adhere to the party constitution.”
In a letter, the party has cited continuous misinterpretation of the party constitution in both the mainstream media and on her social media platforms.
“You have continuously and maliciously misrepresented the position of the party and that of the party leader having blocked him and other party officials,” the letter reads in part.
Wamae, who has been at the party in less than two months, is also accused of contradicting herself on party positions on multiple times.
“You have in your utterances contradicted yourself on Citizen Digital and the KTN and recounted the contradiction hence your allegiance to the party manifesto is questionable.
“You have further made utterances that cannot be substantiated and which are against the party’s manifesto and purported to be the party’s spokesperson and/on several occasions,” the letter continues.
Evidence against Wamae
Wamae is accused of publicly alleging that the party’s presidential candidate, Prof. George Wajackoyah, endorsed Azimio La Umoja’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga on August 3, 2022.
“It is true the allegations that my principal and Party Leader is supporting Azimio, but we have not discussed that as a party, we have not agreed, neither have I been consulted,” she told Citizen TV.
She is also accused of disrespecting the party by congratulating William Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua for winning the August 9 Presidential Election.
The party has now cautioned her to cease and desist from speaking, uttering, or purporting to speak on behalf of the Roots Party of Kenya failure to which she will face legal repercussions.
