Trouble at KTN as an Intern Sues for Having Her TV Programme Idea[Tukuza] Used Without Consent

For starters all TV programmes before they get green light to go on air it goes through various stages for scrutiny to ensure it lives to the standards of the TV station in question. Normally one will approach the preferred station with station with a programme idea, this person could be an employee of the company or an outsider. The next step is to table and convince the programme control panelists giving them reasons to give you a chance. Now here is the place where all the dirty dealings starts to germinate, many TV producers have been accused of acting to have disapproved an idea at this stage only to have it improvised later and package it as their own. This is especially rampant with ideas from outsiders.
Your idea is your intellectual property and you own every right of it,but one mistake people make is failing to copyright their ideas, making nearly impossible to sue for damages in the case one tries to use them, that is the loophole the producers have and use for manipulation. Earlier this year a case was forwarded to Nairobi Exposed of someone accusing citizen TV for stealing his idea (mgaa gaa na upwa) we logged a complaint and the case was solved amicably with the subject getting compensated for the same.
We have received yet another and similar case of a TV station reaping off someone else’s idea and using as their own, this time the suspect being KTN,the source shall remain undisclosed. Trouble is already brewing in the Standard’s corridors, matter of fact a legal suit on the offing. Tukuza is the Sunday gospel show that runs across both TV and radio platforms namely radio maisha and KTN both affiliations of the standard media group. Reliable sources informs NE that the whole programme’s idea to have TV and radio run live at the same time was crafted by an intern at the Standard group. Like explained earlier, the idea went through vigorous check up and was approved overwhelmingly, but someone played dirty tricks,I had forgotten to mention this, when you pitch a programme you also propose the preferred host of it and in this particular case the intern had put herself up for the position. After backdoor manipulations the intern was put on the slide and watched helplessly the programme given to one Anthony Ndiema and Mwende who are both presenters from Radio Maisha. This is just but one case, many have been going on in many TV stations not KTN alone.
This should not create any call for alarm at the end of the day its business, what you need to do is simple, when you approach a TV or any other media channel with some idea, make sure you have copyrighted and holds all the rights to it,that way it can never be used nor be manipulated. Be wise.
