Sonko has announced about this plan to nurture talents at the local levels,the announcement reads
” I am starting a football Foundation Programme
in conjunction with the current Harambee stars
coach Adel Amrouche and former Harambee
Stars Coach Jacob Ghost Mulee. It is a youth
agenda that aims to train and mature the talent
of the Youth in all 47 Counties in the Country.
We are targeting all youths, employed and
unemployed with soccer talent. We will liaise
with the government i.e. all county leaders,
Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs and the
Ministry of education so that they coordinate the
release of talented soccer students on time. We
will keep the youth project in check so that we
can bring up a young talented team that will
qualify for both the World Cup & Africa Cup of
Nations and even Clinch the trophies
respectively. There will be an introduction of
football education in all the 47 Counties by
selected and well trained coaches from all over
the Country. We would be enthusiastic if all
coaches would support this brilliant idea. This
project is aimed at fostering good education to
all the youth from all walks of life.”
