Kenyans Clash With DCI Over The Pregnancy Case Against Edgar Obare And Governor Mutua

Sex scandals involving politicians will always be there because they’re known to pull down their zips at anything with two legs. More often when they die you’ll hear of many concubines coming out of their hideouts to claim part of the estates.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua found himself on the chopping board when a lady confided in Blogger Edgar Obare that he had impregnated her and the governor refused to take responsibilities and went underground. Mutua in his response, said that was a case of blackmail and extortion defending himself that he had been victimized by what he said is a well crafted extortion gang. Obviously, he denied knowing the ‘pregnant’ girl.

Mutua reported the matter to the police and Obare together with the girl were arrested on Thursday.

DCI on their popular Twitter page dropped their usual threads elaborating the nature of the crime at hand.

“In a case of outright blackmail by fraudsters who intend to benefit financially from prominent personalities, by tainting their images online & demanding money not to post ‘scandalous’ information about them, detectives have once again arrested serial fraudster, Edgar Obare.” The tweet read.

‪It continued, “The suspect who has had previous run-ins with the law for publishing false & malicious information regarding individuals and their families is once again a guest of the state. Detectives from the Cybercrime unit have uncovered an underworld network of criminals involving young ladies recruited by Obare, to stalk prominent personalities in political, business and religious circles for monetary exploitation. They ladies are then coached by Obare, on how to ensnare the victims into their traps then extort unimaginable sums of money from them.‬”

They went further to elaborate, “‪In the current case facing the fraudster, one Desy Oduor Achieng his co-accused, had been coached how to stalk a prominent governor with the hope of extorting Sh.10 Million from him. Obare had shared the governor’s number with her and instructed her to tell him that she was pregnant with his child & that she would tell the whole world about their little secret. When the governor did not respond, she was instructed to threaten him that she would share photos that they had allegedly taken in compromising situations but the governor did not respond.‬”

“‪Dejected that their plan wasn’t working, Edgar took to his social media pages accusing the governor of impregnating a lady and failing to take responsibility.The supposedly pregnant lady wasn’t aware that all along, Edgar was taking screenshots of their conversations & her photos which he posted alongside his claims. Fearing the repercussions of Edgar’s actions, she reported the matter to DCI offices in Nyali. Detectives have since established that the lady isn’t pregnant as she had claimed.‬ Further, the lady has said that she has never met the governor, adding that she had only been recruited by Edgar, to extort money from the governor. She has since been arrested alongside her tutor Edgar Obare and they will face Publishing false information charges. The DCI concluded.

While in previous the account has attracted praises from their style of narrating crimes, it was not a normal day in office, the thread elicited mixed reactions with many refusing to buy and agree with the narrative of the DCI, many who contributed in the thread accused the DCI of bias being the judge and jury at the same time on a case that was yet to be concluded.

“I wish you would be updating us on how you’ve dealt with today’s Electoral Violence… Instead, your broke Officers are busy chasing Horny Politicians for handouts. DCI, we are smart, we know liars and Edgar is not the Liar here.
SHAMELESS DCI.” Added Jackson.

A number of Obare sympathizers came to his defense by outrightly attacking the DCI on the credibility of the story against the governor. “@DCI_Kenya you are now being used to settle personal issues, this is outright lies, you have even become judge and jury. Where is the evidence that Edgar coached the girl.” Posed one user identifying as Al Ke.

“This is outrightly way below the belt.
It’s very evident this is just a setup and has got intimidation written all over it.freeedgarobare. The charges are just baseless and carry no weight at all!” Said Achola.

“It is the AUDACITY of the DCI for me for publishing such a malicious and FALSE information against Edgar Obare. How that story has been twisted to this, sounds like a movie.
DCI should be arrested and charged for Defamation and Publishing false information. Yaani the AUDACITY!” Wrote about her user, Shillah.

Others also thought it was a case of big man syndrome going after the weak. “This sounds like a movie plot by the said governor so as to control his narrative. Wacha tuone vile korti utasema coz this sounds like a case of “if you rattle a snake, you get bitten. Ni hayo tu.” Said Mukami Muchoki.

“Really? We all know this is a fallacy! At this rate they’ll kill Edgar obare. All our politicians are scandalous and always get away with wrong doings so they will do anything to keep him from blogging. Sadly that’s possible with our already flawed justice system.” Said Mary Abungu.

“Anytime a politician is touched, arrests are made. Have we accepted that they are untouchable and that public institutions are at their disposal?” Said Kisia.

But DCI received applause as well from those who were pleased by their work.

Others like veteran blogger Cyprian Nyakundi went all bare knuckles for the DCI.

This is not the first time Obare is having a run in with the authorities, the last time he was arrested, he had posted travel details of socialite Natalie Tewa and alleged an affair with governor Joho and that the two had flown to Dubai on a private jet.
