After 18 years,the drought season was over and Gor Mahia was crowned KPL Champions in a glamorous ceremony at the Kasarani sports centre.
On the same day,kogalo were playing KCB who deposited two goals on them despite being the champions.
Now a section of Gor fans are attributing the loss to the fact that Raila Odinga who is also the club’s patron was in attendance and was the reason they were defeated.
The complainants claim that its just not a coincidence that all the matches that Raila has attended they’ve all been defeated,its because of this trend that they’ve labelled him a bad omen to the team.
“Raila ni swara(Raila is bad luck)” says Amo,one of Gor’s diehards.
Collins Okelo popularly known as Jarunda an ardent fan and influential figure in the club’s circles,has pleaded with Raila to keep off from attending their GoTV final match derby against AFC Leopards on 16th November,”we undoubtedly love you baba but kindly keep off from this match to allow us beat the semeji hands down” says Jarunda.
“Every time baba attends any match Gor is playing,we must lose,he is just bad luck to the team,let him keep off from attending the matches and watch from home with mama (Ida Odinga)” says Joseph Okeyo
Meanwhile Raila donated sh.1m to the club last week for the championships celebrations and promised AFC the same amount.
