A move by Mombasa ex-mayor Ahmed Mohdhar to state he endorsed Mombasa governor Hassan Joho twice and will do the same to aspirant Suleiman Shahbal is generating a lot of political heat. Mohdhar proposed Joho in the gubernatorial election of 2012 and 2017. The move by Mohdhar to boast that he backed Joho twice has raised questions about what he knew about Joho controversial academic papers.

The issue of Joho fake academic papers have sucked in Mombasa residence judge Eric Ogola. Already, Judicial Service Commission has received a petition seeking the removal of Ogola over gross misconduct. In the letter to JM Mburu and Company Advocates, JSC acknowledged receiving the petition and adopted under JSC Pet No 44-2021 as its reference.
Eric OgolaMburu seeks the removal of Justice Ogola over allegations of misconduct on grounds the judge dismissed his claim for legal fees for representing the defunct Mombasa municipal council after allegedly being compromised by Joho. The lawyer, in the petition accuses Justice Ogola of receiving a bribe from Joho to stop the governor’s investigations for using a fake Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education result slip to gain university admission. Surprisingly, Ogola saved Joho claiming despite scoring a D-in KCSE Joho had gone to score several As in his life.
Ahmed MohdharHe argues that before his case was dismissed, the judge had halted efforts to prosecute the governor for forging a KCSE certificate to gain admission into university and also obtain a degree to enable him contest the gubernatorial seat in 2013 elections. He avers that the dismissal of Joho’s case for using fake certificate was evidence that the governor and the judge were friends.The lawyer says after the dismissal of his case, he lodged a complaint against Justice Ogola with the JSC over professional misconduct. In his ruling,Ogola praised Joho as a future sultan further raising eyebrows
