Uhuru Kicks Out Raila’s Gumbo As The KNH’s Board Chair

President Uhuru Kenyatta has revoked the appointment of Kenyatta National Hospital board chairman Nicholas Gumbo.

In a gazette notice dated April 22, President Kenyatta appointed George Opondo Ooko to serve for a period of three years effective April 21.

Gumbo was appointed as the chairman of Kenya’s largest referral hospital in May 2019.

He was to serve for a period of three years.

It is not clear why Gumbo was relieved of his duties by the President.

Gumbo vied for the Siaya gubernatorial seat but lost to the current Governor Cornel Rasanga in the 2017 elections.

He, however, challenged the outcome of the election claiming that his agents were not given an equal chance to verify the forms.
