Grief has engulfed Masaka town in Southern Uganda after a groom died just a day after his wedding.

Dominic Ssemwogerere passed on after his motorbike hit a pothole and swerved into an oncoming vehicle. He died while receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital in Kampala.

Just a day before the accident, Ssemwogerere had tied the knot with his sweetheart Josephine Namuju.

Ssemwogerere, reports the New Vision, was accompanying wedding gifts to their new residence where they “live happily ever after.” He worked as a clinical officer at Villa Maria Hospital, Masaka.

Reports indicate that Ssemwogerere chose to ride a motorcycle as his wife and travelled by car. The wedding gifts were inside the car.

Groom’s Short Marriage

“He was introduced on Thursday, wedded on Saturday, knocked down on Sunday and confirmed dead on Monday. He spent only a night in his holy marriage, left his wife, son and the entire fraternity in very shaky moments,” mourns Matumbwe Suudi, a friend.
