Government Awards Raila’s Family Lucrative Tender

Kisumu County Government has awardedaa lucrative tender to a company associated with the Orange Democratic Movement Leader Raila Odinga.

Reports by Daily Nation indicated that Spectre International Company owned by the family of the opposition chief won the tender to supply a section of Kisumu County with water.

Reports further indicated that the tendering process is in the final steps and the company will assist Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) to supply water to affected areas once the process is finalized.

In a letter from Water CEC Salmon Orimba to KIWASCO Managing Director Thomas Odongo, the company was poised to supply water in Kisumu West.

“It was determined there is a deficit in Kisumu west and therefore the proposal for bulk water supply by Spectre International Limited will go a long way in augmenting the same.

“This letter is, therefore, to ask your company to guide and assist Spectre in the process of implementing the proposal as per options,” reads the letter in part.

Orimba further noted that the County Government of Kisumu under the leadership of Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, Kiwasco and South Water Works Development Agency participated in the tendering process, highlighting that the county had experienced challenges in meeting water demands in some parts of Kisumu County.

“Spectre will help us since they already have structures to extract water from Lake Victoria and also have a treatment plant,” Orimba stated.
