Henry Ohanga popularly known as Octopizzo is a big name in the present hiphop industry. He rose from a rap battle artist to a renowned and established rapper in the country and the entire region at large. His career which isn’t that old has been marred with controversies earning him haters and fans at the same time. Permanent enemies he made is with the old KSouth rap group who haven’t hesitated to clinch any opportunity to bash at him. But in the entertainment industry a lot goes on unnoticed. Nairobi Exposed has done conducted an extensive research including talking to the rapper to unveil the unknowns about him and below is the compilation:
• Only Kenyan to have a fashion stylist
For those who have been there since day one will notice the transformation in the looks Octo has gone through the times. When he came into the scenes he embraced his previous style of baggy looks,he had oversized pants that was his style but what we see now is a totally different look and person. Octo nowadays embrace the suits,hype and fitting kind of clothes. Did this happen by magic? No,as Nairobi Exposed finds out Octo has a stylist assigned to him whose main duty is to make sure his looks matches the brand he is selling. His new style and looks is criticised by some and loved by many at the same time. As we find out one stylist is an Italian and the other a female a Kenyan.
• He is an Actor
Yes Octo is a talented actor as well and has featured in major local and international programmes. Locally he have made guest appearance on the biggest and first ever local soap opera MALI on the international scenes he appeared on ShugaII. History from his primary and secondary schools also reveals he was an active and a good actor. So besides making music,he makes movies as well.
• CEO YGB((Young,Gifted and Black)
Before he sprung to the limelight during his battle days,Octo had formed YGB which comprised of graffiti,spoken words artists and rappers. This was his one way of keeping the gifted youths out of crime which thrives in the slums. After gaining fame he still maintains the group and as NE finds out,the members are entitled to a pay every often from Octo himself and he organizes gigs for them and gets paid off.
• Maintains his old barber in Kibera
People change when fame and money checks in but as NE finds out Octo has stuck to some of his old ways. He still visits the same barbershop he used to when the fame wasn’t home,as Octo reveals to NE,”nobody touches my hair except him,I can afford top of the class barbers in Nairobi but I opt to stick to my roots,my guy at the kibera barbershop is the best” This the guy responsible for grafting out octo’s trademark “8” marking on his head. He pays him handsomely for this.
• Cap phenomenon
Most of the times you’ll spot him in his different caps matter of fact we are informed he owns a collection of more than 50 brands of them. Every show that Octo attends as we find out he dishes out his cap of the day to the fans,this isn’t a usual stunt by many Kenyan artists who keeps their stuff to themselves,but it’s common amongst the West artists. So as he performs he will throw his cap to the crowd and the lucky fan gets to take it home. He has been doing this in several shows across the country. He Carries along more than one cap in his tour pack as we find out.
• Only Kenyan artist driving a Ferrari
Yes boys and toys goes along,Octo owns a Ferrari 166 Inter Coupe.
• Jewelery Collection
Octo has upped his jewels class over the years from doing wooden necklaces to now all gold chains,recently he is seen rocking two chains like the USA rapper 2chains. Though he doesn’t reveal the true worth of his chains,insiders hints that his jewelery collection including watches,chains and other accessories could be adding up to a six figure.
• Married with a daughter
Octo is a father to the only daughter called Tracy,he has even featured her on several of his videos and appearances on magazine covers. Controversy however hovers around on his marital status,sources indicates he is married to a white lady whom they live together with.
• Favourite Clothes shopping place
As much as he gets his clothes imported or tailor made or from the uptown malls,Octo’s favourite market to go out for shopping remains Toy which is located in his previous home Kibera.. He admits to be visiting the said place every often to get the latest on market,most of his gears he gets fror here.
•Inventor Swaghili Movement
The word was crafted by one Kanye West but Octo has taken it to start a movement in Kenya,its to inspire fashion and swag as he prefers it in the Kenyan soil which uses Swahili as it’s national language. You’ll realise most of his posts bares this hash tag. Like made a signature out of Lilwayne’s young mulla baby in his own version of number nane baby,he is determined to spread the swaghili virus across board.
• Not Illuminati
Had to fix this here real quick,Octo isn’t an illuminati member neither an affiliate of any such classification,this is in contrary to the public perception that he is one. He is a Christian and a Catholic to be precise. But hey whatever sells you don’t take chances with it,take and run with it,for those who grasped my point you good.
