Shock As Suffering In Kenyan Police Force Gets Exposed

They are entrusted with internal security of all Kenyans, they work around the clock to protect and put the bad people out to cause harm away from the public. That is for the common mwananchi.
On the other hand an elite police class, charged with protecting the mighty and VIPs of this world, these guys have given up their lives and dedicated themselves into serving the nation and willing to die while at it.
However, the payback for this selflessness is nothing but heartbreaking,on Sunday evening an investigative piece was aired on NTV serve and suffer, this exposed the irony and dispels on the police force starting with the mighty Recce squad.
The Kenyan swat team has been in operation for the longest time in history and their operations have been top secret, only protecting the VIPs including the president and diplomats in this country as a matter of fact the force receives specialised training from the US as.well.
It was the Westgate attack that put them into the public limelight and other subsequent attacks like the Lavington minor hostage situation and the Turkana siege that has deservedly earned them the respect and immortality reputation amongst many Kenyans.
But behind the scenes, these men protecting people earning millions and Kenyans earns way lesser amount in fact a househelp in a Nairobi suburb earns more than a recce squad officer, the people protecting the president and risking their lives for Kenyans.
According to evidence shown,a recce officer earns about sh.11k after all the deductions and there are instances where the amount is even way lesser. The irony of protecting people earning millions yet the protectors are earning peanuts.
During a presidential motorcade passage, they are dressed in sharp tinted suits and they’d look to be earning a fortune, however to such an officer there’s nothing to smile about.
The selflessness exhibited by these countrymen is heartwarming, for the same services they are offering, they can step outside and make forty times the amount but they’ve resorted to remain standby at least hoping for a better future ahead.
The low pay is a possible loophole to be manipulated by terrorists who for example would offer $100,000 to any such officer who is extremely underpaid to gain access to the president God forbid to assassinate. These officers can also easily cross over to join terror groups like Al Shabab as trainers and get paid hundreds of dollars such a tempting scenario. In the past few months a new breed of rogue officers colluding and in cases joining gangs and stealing from the public have been seen to be on the rise, these could easily be attributed to the shaming peanuts pay on the officers.
In the era of digital movement many police stations still use the BC hand typewriters instead of having a desktop, some cases police officers using under tree as their office. Every coin undoubtedly has two sides and next time you see an officer perhaps you’ll get to see the suffering father/brother/uncle/mother….. On the other end. What a bad news to fighting corruption in Kenya.
