Parliament has bought a Sh150
million palatial home for Senate
Speaker Ekwee Ethuro in
Nairobi’s Karen suburb.
The Clerk of the Senate, Mr
Jeremiah Nyegenye, confirmed
the house was bought in a sale
agreement entered into on
February 22.
The transfer of title
to the Parliamentary Service
Commission (PSC), Mr Nyegenye
said, was done on June 26. The speaker Mr.Ethuro already has moved in to the mansion.
The house had previously been linked to retired police commissioner Hussein Ali but be later denounced it’s ownership.
Coming close to Deputy president’s sh.400 mansion located in Karen,Ethuro’s new home is said to have had an initial sh.200m as the asking price but trimmed down by a sh.50m margin.
The mansion is one of the highest valued single residential units in Nairobi, standing on a two acre land space its located on Bogani road in Karen same as the DP’s. It has a 50meter drive way leading to the parking bay,two houses located at the back for domestic workers.
It has a theatre or movie watching room, two sunken living rooms, fully furnished with imported furniture. It has 24hours security surveillance with CCTV and electric fence fixed.
A parking lot that can handle up to 6 cars. The government provides everything meaning Ethuro simply moved in with his bags and few valuables. The interiors are furnished to the king’s taste with golden light heads and silver toilet bowls.
Going by the current economic status in Kenya and the fact that it is a growing economy,do you think the acquisition was deserved? Is the priority placed right?
