Studio and Live Show are two different things, one could be so well at studio and horrible when it comes to performing infront of a live audience, many artists suffer from stage scare making them sound and looking bad as compared to their booth/studio performance. In Kenya the live show has undergone tremendous changes over the years from playbacks to now live performance with a band. But despite all these there are those who comes out awesome and others contrary.
We have compiled a list of the artists who are really good at it and wows up the crowds everytime they step up the stage, the decision is arrived at after conducting a sample poll exclusively by Nairobi Exposed.
• Juliani
He seems to have won the hearts of many with his ever present strength on stage,Juliani is also known to only perform with a band and not DJ playbacks, its said if you can’t afford to have his entire band with him then he won’t be performing in your show. His power when he steps up always transcends to the crowd, any show of Juliani you attend will certify this, his jumping and trademark dreads whipping always works magic. He moves the crowd.
• Octopizzo
He is turning out to be one of the best performers in the country, with several hits and anthems under his docket,Octo with his hype style of hiphop more than often throws the audience into frenzy. One of the factors to judge wether one is a good performer is the ability to control the crowds, make them scream and enjoy every single bit of it. His abilities won him the lucrative deal with Safaricom and was the only rapper selected amongst many to headline the safaricom live tour which will see him go countrywide.
• Ekko Dyda
His unique style if stammer rapping and stagger dance style has stood the test of times and made him one of the most sought after performers. Its always evident in hid shows, the audience relates and moves along with him,Ekko himself exhibits immense power on stage such is what throws the audience into wowed moods.
•Sauti Sol
This all boys band has been known to have overwhelming control over the ladies,NB fellas never let your woman attend a sauti sol concert alone, they have their ways with the instruments and voice, stuff that them ladies just love, but its not only ladies even men too enjoy their performance and the fact that they can do live shows is outstanding.
• Size 8
Lets put the gospel days on hold for a moment, this lady is if not the best to ever do it in Kenya, she has this strength that wherever it was coming from, she is an excellent worker especially with her waist,I know of a fellow who watched her videos on repeat just to watch her propel it,but its not only in her videos but on stage its even more dangerous, actually its her part that most people looks forward to, “Leo kutawaka moto….” And it did. Even in her gospel days all hopes are not lost but again with that matekw, she moves the crowd, she is talented.
• Nameless
He might be old but the man with no names is one of the Kenyans best performers of all tine. He may not be producing new music every other day but with his old songs when he hits the stage, the crowd responds, give him a mic and a durag and the rest you shall see.
•Redsan
The list can’t be complete without the badder than most star,he is arguably the king of Kenyan dancehall. He is like LL cool J but the Kenyan version, the gentleman look he has on stage works for him, how he works out withhis dancers on stage too is a sure crowds puller.
•Wyre
First Wyre is like the best dancer amongst all the performing artists in Kenya, together with his dance crew whom he performs with, his shows are phenomenal and often adrenaline packed.
•Juacali
Baba Yao as he is fondly referred to is a veteran performer,he has his way of swaying the crowds, his trademark stage entrance with “waaaaaaatu” chants outstand. Juacali will bring down any kind of audience, most of his songs are known and people well versed with them. Go to any concert where juacali is slated to perform,he will be perfoming last always, reason? Save the best for the last.
The list goes on and just a by the way have you watched Camp Mulla’s stage performance? That’s a story for another day.
