Controversial businessman Philip Aroko, recently released on bond following his arrest in connection to the high-profile murder of Were, was seen enjoying a lavish outing with infamous gold scammer Jared Otieno in Nairobi on Sunday.
The sighting, captured in exclusive photographs circulating on social media, has sparked outrage and renewed scrutiny over Aroko’s activities while awaiting trial.
Aroko, who has been at the center of a storm of allegations surrounding the brutal killing, appeared relaxed and unbothered as he dined with Otieno, a figure well-known in Kenya’s underworld for his alleged involvement in multimillion-shilling gold scams.
The duo was photographed at an upscale restaurant, laughing and sharing what appeared to be an extravagant binge drinking, raising questions about Aroko’s conduct during such a sensitive legal battle.
The murder of Were, a prominent figure, sent shockwaves across the country, and Aroko’s alleged role as the mastermind has kept the case in the headlines.
Jared Otieno, Aroko’s companion in the photos, is no stranger to controversy himself.
Otieno has been linked to a string of fraudulent gold deals, reportedly swindling investors out of millions. While he has managed to evade significant legal consequences, his association with Aroko has only fueled speculation about the networks of influence and power both men may wield.
The two have been jointly charged before in multimillion gold scam and are known to be partners in the deep gold scam web.
Otieno is also a budding politician from Homa Bay adding layers to their relationship.
