KTN’s investigative piece Casefiles has in the past awoken many questions in many minds as to what really could have happened to the lady who was found dead and postmortem revealed she was strangled to death.
Dennis Onsarigo, has been trying to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Louis Otieno’s late girlfriend, Careen Chep-chumba, who died back in 2012 under controversial circumstance,meet various obstacles in the pursuit including Careens parents refusing on making an appearance on the program even though the largely suspected Louis obliged.
And it has now emerged that she wrote a letter to Louis before she met her death. The short-letter was found lying next to her lifeless body and it read
“I wish they would let me do my way. Even if we are not together, you are still in my heart.You will still remain so dear to me Louis.”
According to pathologists who carried a post-mortem on her body, she met her death after being strangled.
Apparently, the person who carried out the heinous act had s3x with her and also seemed very close to her.
After strangling her to death, he tucked her lifeless body in between the sheets and left.
It also emerged that it was her brother whom she was last seen with when he dropped her home that fateful night. It goes without mention that the mother held some bitterness towards her daughter which could have been deep rooted. She didn’t know where she lived but only the brother and brother did.
Surprisingly, it was Careens brother who discovered her lifeless body and did not touch neither raised alarm to the neighbors instead called police, suspicious.
The letter which Careen had.supposedly written was in ink,however, the dad made a selective print out, nobody but them knew what it entailed.
Forensic investigations failed to dust her body to get most vital evidence that could have been easily used to nail the suspects. Its worthy noting the dad and brother refused to have a DNA test done on them. In a quick move he publicly stated to have forgiven the murderers of her daughter.
On the fateful night, Louis Otieno was reportedly in Mombasa that being the case the person Who strangled Careen is said to be very close to her such that he had consensual sex with her before the murderer. Who is this person? The last person she was seen with was her brother.
Guards who manned the apartment where Careen lived claim that they last saw her being dropped by her brother outside the apartment.
But no one knows what happened to Careen between the time she was dropped outside her apartment and the time she met her death. It beats logic why such a secure apartment could fail to intercept all the movements around.
Nobody knows who killed her though reports indicates its someone really close to her and were both familiar sexually. Who? Why? Mysteries that are unresolved and shall remain.
