As Kenyans slowly comes into terms with the terror attack from the militia terrorist group Alshabaab and the security forces fighting to contain the incident as the hitmen still holds a good number hostages we are fighting a new war.
The daily nation owned by NMG on their Sunday edition of the daily went overboard not putting into consideration ethics of the fraternity.
Like the rest of international media who specializes in sensationalized coverage of Kenya scenes by posting sensitive images just like New York Times did of a dead Kenyan at the Westgate mall attack, daily nation gave us a dose.
The cover photo of today’s paper is that of a shooting victim laying on the ground writhing in pain with a bloody face.
This image has solicited angry reaction from the vibrant Kenyans online who’ve embarked on a boycott mission on the paper.
Trending under #BoycottDailyNation, readers are being urged to desist from buying themselves a copy of the paper as a show of might and solidarity to the grieving nation.
From millions of images captured on the incident it was unethical for them to decide on this as the cover photo, professionally it’s not advisable to show graphic images unless in extreme cases and worst is to show someone writhing in pain and helpless. That’s exactly what DN did.
This is subjected to serve as a punishment and a lesson learnt the hard way for the newspaper owner. Meanwhile they are demanding an immediate apology from the daily nation on this act of negligence professionally.
The picture in question is this on the cover copy of Sunday Nation.
