The previous year a lesser known school in the country shocked many when it emerged as top in the country beating out the traditional academic giants to claim the number one school in the KCSE. In 2013,the school had projected even a better performance but the announcement from KNEC during the results announcement would leave many shocked and spirits dampened. Maranda was not only missing from the top schools list,but had been ex punched from the list as well as some results nullified giving Alliance the top position.The school recorded the following outcomes which ideally would qualify it as the top
RESULTS?- 136 A 153 A-, 78 B+, 5 B, 2 C+, and 23 Y TOTAL= 423No. Students
Alliance which was announced as No.1 with 276 and mean grade of A- you compare this with Maranda ‘s
results As + A-s = 136 + 153 = 289! Which is higher than Alliance High
School’s total No of
students. ADDITIONALLY,the total No of Students of Maranda 423 which is close to
double the No in Alliance! The Class Average with or without Y? (in
computers which were nullified) is still A- !.. This explains why they can’t
be ranked!
The
inclusion of Maranda in the list would be a big embarrassment to the
education system than the powers that be can take in! This new development has provoked reactions from leaders in the region led by Jakoyo Midiwo who are now pushing fro the KNEC’s chairman resignation citing dirty politics in rigging out and stealing Maranda’s victory. Question would therefore be,why ‘rig’ Maranda out.
