Somali businessman Adan Haji Isaack has been accused of hiring goons to harass and forcibly evict a city professor from a disputed parcel of land in Nairobi.
According to a report filed at Spring Valley Police Station under OB number 20, Isaack allegedly sent a group of hired men to intimidate Professor Lumumba Nyaberi, a 60-year-old law lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
The men are said to have made the professor’s life unbearable in an attempt to force him off the land.
Professor Nyaberi’s troubles reportedly began after he resisted attempts by suspected land grabbers to take over his property. The contested land, measuring approximately 1.2 acres, is located along Peponi Road in Westlands.
Witnesses claim that Isaack, together with a Ghanaian national identified only as Eric, used goons armed with machetes and crude weapons to evict the professor, allegedly with the intention of causing him harm.
Police say investigations into the incident have commenced, and Isaack has not yet been arrested as officers continue gathering evidence.
If the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approves the charges, the businessman will face prosecution for trespass and assault, both offenses under the Penal Code.
