Former celebrated Kenyan boxer Conjestina Achieng has burnt torched her house in Gem Yala, Siaya County, burning all her clothes and other items that were inside the house.
Luckily, the house did not burn down.
Auma narrated how Congestina told her how she had been defending some boxing titles, the match was massive and they played until the house got burnt.
Auma however, did not take her seriously assuming that Congestina was once again talking to herself the way she always does every other day.
She however got worried when she kept repeating that she had burnt down the house and has to go and check.
“When I arrived at her house, I found that she had burnt all her clothes, the fire did not spread to the entire house,” she said.
Due to her mental problems, the 44-year-old then turned to her mother accusing her of burning her house.
“She started shouting at me that I am the one who burnt her clothes and I did not know what to do,” she said.
She added that she is appealing to anybody including the government to come to their aid and help them out.
Her mother revealed to us that they no longer sleep as her daughter is always shouting and making noise while talking to herself the whole day and night.
According to her relatives, the boxer who led a successful career said that she was a disappointed lady in life reason she decided to torch the house.
Since 2018, Conjestina has been struggling with life to an extent that all her plights were publicized.
The first person who came out and said that he was in a position to assist the boxer and even took her for rehabilitation was former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
He then took her to Nairobi Hospital where she spent a week before she was taken to a Rehabilitation Center based in Kabete.
This happened after she was picked from her home with a team led by the National Authority for the Campaigns Against Drugs.
The last time the fighter was seen in high spirits was in March 2019 when she made an appearance during Fatuma Zarika’s boxing match against Catherine Phiri a Zambian.
A follow-up made by radio and Kenyan sports personality Carol Radull again saw the boxer being highlighted.
At the time Radull said that the boxer was still suffering and accused those who had promised to help her of neglecting her later.
She also said that the former boxer was hanging on after fake promises from Heroes Council.
According to doctors, the boxing icon has been battling schizoaffective disorder also known as paranoid Schizophrenia. This was made public in 2018 after she was airlifted to Nairobi from her native Siaya home.
