Deputy President William Ruto was missing at the funeral service of Bishop Godfrey Migwi of House of Hope Church as he was being laid to rest today in his rural home.
Migwi who was a strong believer in Ruto’s politics and a household name in the country was laid to rest at his home in Nyeri and was mourned as a courageous religious leader in the society.
DP Ruto who was on a two-day political tour in Turkana had, a week ago, mourned Bishop Migwi as a mentor and friend whose sermons will be greatly missed as the Second-in-Command prayed for God’s comfort to Migwi’s family and friends during this difficult time.
“Bishop Godfrey Migwi was a bold, vocal and powerful spiritual leader with a great sense of humour. He was a mentor and a friend with firm pastoral faith that he infused to many of us. We will miss his topical and nourishing sermons,” Ruto tweeted.
Migwi passed on last week after he allegedly succumbed to high blood pressure complications.
Migwi was vocal in Mt. Kenya region and will be remembered for his powerful sermons during DP Ruto’s visit to the area.
Prior to his demise, the bishop had declared his interest in the Mathioya parliamentary seat.
The demise of Migwi came just less than two months after another cleric close to DP Ruto passed on.
Shem Shamala, the High Priest of the African Church of the Holy Spirit based in Tumbeni area of Malava, Kakamega County, died just a week after getting a car gift from the DP.
