Ruto Offers Mudavadi Crazy Amount To Join Him In UDA

With the race for Kenya’s presidential elections entering a critical stage, the two front runners Raila Odinga and William Ruto are getting desperate as the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) remains defiant. As the pressure on OKA intensified a week towards Christmas, the OKA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), and Moses Wetangula (FORD-K) stuck to their guns that there was no backing down!

There are claims deputy president William Ruto’s recent forays in Vihiga County was designed to win the ANC leader to his side. DP Ruto “pleaded” with Mudavadi to join him and his efforts appear to have gone a notch higher with his key political strategists holding night meetings with a selected number of top ANC party officials. According to informed sources, Ruto’s strategists are said to have offered to defray costs Mudavadi has so far spent on building ANC and OKA with a reported “Ksh. 2.5billion” offer that was however turned down as “too little”.

The source intimated that Mudavadi’s men had stuck on a “Ksh 5b” or no deal, prompting the DP’s people to ask for more time to “consult further”! OKA is out to “mortgage” its perceived regional support to the “highest bidder” A source said.

Some ANC supporters in western and Wiper supporters in Kamba-land are warning that such a deal would not be without wide-ranging political repercussions. They claim if OKA decides to chicken out of the 2022 race and back Ruto, its regional support would likely be harvested by Raila’s Azimio la Umoja.

It is this horn of a dilemma that is causing sleepless nights to OKA men apart from KANU’s Gideon Moi who has already decided to back Mr Odinga. Kalonzo surfaced recently after spending days in Juba. The Wiper boss body language shows he is a man under siege from different directions. President Uhuru Kenyatta has thrice hosted OKA principals at the statehouse and asked them to back Odinga’s presidential bid in 2022 or ‘face defeat to Ruto”!

But Mudavadi has told the head of state to ‘leave them alone” to find a flag bearer.
