Jubilee’s wars between factions allied to President Uhuru and DP Ruto continue to sharpen their knives with no possibility of the war evading anytime soon.
DP who has been away from the public limelight and taking a low profile since declaration of Covid19 pandemic, is slowly resurfacing.
Described as a man with big office and no power, the vocal politician has been missing from key government stages including the custom appearances with the president. It’s not a secret anymore that the romance between the two is dead and buried.
Power brokers in jubilee have been plotting to replace the DP with ODM’s Raila Odinga. David Murathe, Jubilee’s Vice Chairman and a man who doesn’t shy from sharing his displeasure with DP Ruto has been quoted as saying arrangements are underway to make sure Raila joins the government post Covid19.
It has been intense two weeks of jubilee party leaders exchanging fire. Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju on Saturday stuck to his guns over the list of proposed members of the National Management Committee (NMC). This is the list that sparked controversy with DP accusing Tuju of not following the set channels.
Dr Ruto, also the deputy party leader, last week referred to him and other officials behind the list as fraudsters who had taken advantage of Covid-19 outbreak to sneak the names to the Registrar of political Parties Anne Nderitu.
Politicians allows to Ruto and who boasts of having the numbers in both parliament and senate have threatened to dethrone the SG. In the latest spat, they’ve threatened to take Tuju out of office if he won’t resign.
In a move seen as taking the war to Uhuru’s doorstep, DP will be taking a brake from his Karen home as it seems he doesn’t have any government duties to perform and anything to keep him busy now is appropriate.
Deputy President William Ruto will be operating at least once a week from Jubilee Party headquarters located in Pangani as he takes the fight for the ruling party to the doorstep of his rivals.
Mr Ruto will be operating from Jubilee in his capacity as the deputy party leader to “reclaim the party”.
The move will likely escalate the tension since ordinarily, it is the secretariat that runs the day-to-day activities of the political parties.
Moses Kuria, a staunch supporter of the DP recently said that only death will see them walk out of jubilee with Ruto a statement that came after Murathe told the DP to ship out.
