Deputy President William Ruto and a section of Jubilee MPs have moved to block planned changes in the party’s top organ.
The DP dismissed attempts to remove senior officials from the party as fraudulent and illegal adding that he had notified the Registrar of Political parties of the intended plans to change the Jubilee’s National Management Committeee.
“As Kenyans are focused on the Covid-19 pandemic, some shadowy characters are attempting to fraudulently institute illegal changes in officials of Jubilee party…” the DP said on his twitter handle.

As Kenyans are focused on the Covid-19 pandemic, some shadowy characters are attempting to FRAUDULENTLY institute ILLEGAL changes in officials of Jubilee party. As deputy leader I have alerted the registrar of the fraud. Party members should know that the matter is being handled.
Jubilee party has already notified the Registrar of Political Parties of the appointment of five new officials to the powerful National Management Committee.
In the Gazette Notice No. 3084, published on 6th April 2020, Fatuma Shukri, Pamela Mutua and Veronica Maina have been replaced by Lucy Nyawira Macharia, Prof. Marete Marangu, Walter Nyambati, Jane Nampaso and James Waweru.
Various MPs have also written to the Registrar demanding cancellation of the Gazette Notice.
Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen announced he will report the matter to the DCI oting that there was no formal meeting to ratify the decision.
“As an active member of NEC, I have never been invited to any meeting to discuss and or consider anything let alone removal, resignation and or replacement of any officials of the party or the members of NMC or of other organs of the Party. I have also not been consulted by the Party Leader, or the Deputy Party Leader in the purported impugned changes of the Party National Management Committee” he said in a statement.
Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Adan Duale has also opposed the new appointments saying that he was not privy to the plans.
The committee is in charge of managing the daily affairs of the party and sits more frequently than the National Executive Committee or the National Delegates Conference to make urgent and pressing decisions.
The committee currently has 13 members appointed by the party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
