Robert Alai Exits Nyando MP Race To Vie For Kileleshwa MCA Seat

Robert Alai, a Kenyan blogger and cyber-activist, has announced that he will vie for the Kileleshwa MCA seat in the August 9 polls.

The blogger, who had shown an interest in the Nyando MP seat, said he will now vie for the seat on an ODM party ticket.

He had earlier released his six-point manifesto when he sought to unseat the Nyando MP Jared Okello.

“Having been born and brought up largely in Nyando, and having actively participated in national and party politics as a voter and advisor, it is against this backdrop that my interest to serve my people sprouts,” he said.

The areas he said he was to prioritise were: Education and ICT, health and agriculture, arts, sports, and the creative economy infrastructure (road and electricity) and security.

ODM’s  Elias Okumu is the current ward representative of Kileleshwa and has occupied that seat since 2013.

From 2017 until November 2019, Okumu served as the Minority leader for Nairobi County before the Raila Odinga led party replaced him with Karen MCA David Mberia.

Elias next move is not yet known.

Alai will be battling it out with Ayisha Shollei (UDA) for the seat.
