Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has revealed how much the Kenyan deputy president William Samoei Ruto pays various leaders allied to him to attend his political rallies.
Through a statement that was meant for the second in command, the Machakos boss exposed that members of parliament get paid 200,000 Kenya shillings to attend public rallies and gatherings in a bid to scare opponents that he has numbers.
“When you see a leader followed by many members of parliament or senators to a function it is not because they are attached to him or her ideologically, it is because at the end of the day they are given Ksh 200,000 for their own personal use.” Said Mutua.

“Our members are bribed to follow people and if they stop following them, the bribe is cut. Our politicians have been bought at the highest bidder which is also corruption.” Added governor Mutua.
Mutua’s sentiments come in the wake of a rush by various political figures in the country to form new outfits and coalitions before the 2022 general elections.
He is also one of those Kenyan governors that have openly declared their interests in the 2022 presidential elections to replace the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta.
