Moses Kuria To Resign, Run For Nairobi Governor

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria now says he is ready to resign to join the race for the Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat.

The outspoken MP told PD Online that he will be seeking to replace disgraced governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on a People’s Empowerment Party ticket.

Kuria has already made a poster rallying Nairobians to support his bid to take over the leadership of the City Hall.

He will be joining a group of other politicians whispered to have been eying the top seat.

Among the politicians and technocrats floated as possible candidates in the by-election expected to be held 60 days after the swearing-in of acting Governor Benson Mutura are former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, former Gatanga MP and presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth former Dagoretti MP Dennis Waweru, former Kiambu governor William Kabogo among others.

Kuria’s announcement to run for the top seat comes hours after Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura took over the leadership of the county in an acting capacity after he was sworn in on Monday.

Mutura who already commenced his gubernatorial duties promised to restore sanity in the running of affairs in the capital.
