A prominent Kenyan activist has leveled serious allegations against political aspirant Morara Kebaso, accusing him of political opportunism and questioning his integrity ahead of his rumored presidential ambitions.
Francis Gaitho, known for his outspoken political commentary, has accused Kebaso of abandoning his candidacy during the 2020 Kahawa Wendani by-election just weeks before polling day. According to Gaitho, Kebaso withdrew from the Member of County Assembly race after allegedly receiving Ksh.1 million from politician Moses Kuria.
“His current political positioning is nothing but a scheme to eventually endorse President William Ruto, similar to his actions in 2020,” Gaitho claimed in a strongly-worded social media post that has attracted significant attention online.
The activist’s criticism comes as Kebaso has been gaining visibility in Kenyan political circles. Gaitho expressed particular concern over Kebaso’s recent meeting with British High Commissioner Neil Wigan and the visiting Defense Secretary, suggesting that such international recognition was unwarranted.
Kebaso, who has been positioning himself as a youth-focused political alternative, has not yet responded to these allegations. Political analysts note that such heated exchanges are becoming increasingly common in Kenya’s highly competitive political landscape.
These accusations come at a time of heightened political activity in Kenya, with various figures beginning to position themselves for future electoral contests. The controversy highlights the intense scrutiny facing emerging political players in the country’s dynamic political environment.
