Kang’ata On Why Ruto Will Beat Raila Even With Uhuru’s Support

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has claimed that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is destined for defeat in the upcoming 2022 polls even if President Uhuru Kenyatta backs his presidential bid.

“Uhuru’s backing will not make him president. I will not even argue with the governors on their reasons for endorsing Raila but will show differently why he will not win,” Kang’ata said. null

Kang’ata further said voters will select the next leader come 2022 mainly on how they feel the current president governed the country during his tenure.

“Voters will select the next president mainly on how they feel the incumbent has governed. If satisfied, they will re-elect the incumbent, or whoever he or she endorses. If the voters are dissatisfied, they will transfer the presidency to the rival,” Kang’ata said.

According to Kang’ata, voters are pragmatic and not swayed by the spectacle of campaigning.

He adds; “Even if OKA joins Raila, and it is assumed that the former premier remains a national hero, Ruto will win.”

Kang’ata also said Raila, Ruto and OKA should invest less money and effort in election campaigns because it will have little effect on the outcome.

He also adds that Kenyans should ignore analysts, polls, and media strategists whose careers revolve around campaigns and marketing.
