Kalonzo Tells Raila To Retire Alongside Uhuru

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, on Sunday December 19, 2021 took a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga over the 2022 presidential contest.

Speaking at a rally in Kiambu county, Kalonzo asked the President to ensure that he retires from office alongside Raila if he wants to leave a united and a peaceful country.

Kalonzo’s statement comes amid talks that President Kenyatta is trying to push for Raila’s presidency as his time in office comes to end.

“I propose that when President Uhuru will be leaving the office in next year August, he should leave alongside his brother Raila Odinga,” Kalonzo said.

He further claimed that though he respects Raila a lot, for the benefit of the country, the ODM chief and the President must retire together.

“We have supported both Raila and Uhuru in bringing peace in the country. For that peace to be maintained, Uhuru must retire with Raila,” he said.

Kalonzo’s statement comes a week after Raila officially announced his bid to run for the presidency for the fifth time.

His statement also comes weeks after Raila dismissed calls for political opponents calling for his retirement noting that he is the best person to lead the country into revolution.
