Justina Wamae Tells Off Wajackoyah In Public Spat

Relationship between the Roots Party candidate in the concluded election Professor George Wajackoyah and his running mate Justina Wamae is getting out of hand.

On Monday, Prof Wajackoyah accused his running mate of gross misconduct and making statements in public without the approval of the party.

Ms Wamae had been asked to appear before the party disciplinary committee on August 26.

It did not take long for Ms Wamae to hit back at her party leader.

She asked Prof Wajackoyah to go ahead and take any action against her since the party belongs to him.

“I will not respond to pettiness. But on the non-existent accommodation and car, you IMAGINED you ‘assisted’ me with you can withdraw in your DREAMS. It is your party to do what you deem fit, I will soldier on,” Ms Wamae said.

Prof Wajackoyah had alleged in his statement that Ms Wamae had blocked him and other party officials from direct communication with her.

“You have in your utterances contradicted yourself on Citizen TV Digital and KTN and recounted the contradiction hence your allegiance to the party manifesto is questionable,” part of the statement read.

Things got twisted between the two leaders following the declaration of William Ruto as the President-elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

Ms Wamae was the first party official to congratulate the President-elect, raising questions among the party officials.

Previously, the two differed when Prof Wajackoyah hinted at supporting the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition flag bearer Raila Odinga, a move that forced Ms Wamae to also take a side.

Prof Wajackoyah came third in the concluded election with 61,969 votes, representing 0.44 per cent of the total votes cast.

The two are yet to meet face to face after the declaration of the August 9 presidential results.
