Deputy President William Ruto has urged Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to reconsider his decision to join the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
Despite being coy on the political path he would follow ahead of the August polls, Musyoka on March 12, finally joined the Azimo movement and endorsed Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
According to DP Ruto, who was drumming up support for his presidential bid in Mwingi, Kitui County on Wednesday, Kalonzo should severe ties with the Odinga-led coalition in favour of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
DP Ruto went on to allege that the wiper boss is not being accorded the respect he deserves in Azimio despite what he brings to the table in terms of political influence; as such he should decamp to a political outfit that will grant him respect worthy of a former vice-president.
“Mnaskia mpaka juzi walienda wakamkoroga Kalonzo mpaka aka sign karatasi mwisho akasema ata hajui alisign nini. Mnaona ile mateso. Ambieni Kalonzo atafutane na mimi tufanye kazi pamoja,” Ruto said in his address to Mwingi residents.
DP Ruto likewise dismissed the highly anticipated supreme court ruling on the fate of the Building Bridges Initiative saying focus should be on economic revival and not constitutional review.
“Ati anasema (Raila) anataka kubadilisha katiba, aongeze mamlaka ya Rais, aongeze vyeo vya viongozi, ati aanzishe reggae tena. Mnataka tubadilishe katiba ama tubadilishe uchumi?” DP Ruto posed.
“Tubadilishe uchumi ndio tupate ajira kwa watoto wetu na tuimarishe biashara zetu.”
Ruto similarly blamed the March 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga for what he said derailed the Jubilee administration’s development plans and agenda.
