Bishop Langat Leads Clergy In Calling For A Strong Opposition To Check Ruto Administration

A section of members of the clergy has now asked President-elect William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza team to ensure there is an opposition to check on his government even as he brings other leaders on board.

Speaking during a prayer service at Tenwek High School in Bomet, the clergy led by Bishop for AGC Kenya Robert Langat took issue with the rate at which leaders were decamping from various political camps to Ruto’s led Kenya Kwanza team.

He also noted that the outgoing DP should refrain from bringing leaders on board as it is likely to leave the opposition team with none and therefore kill it.

“It’s good to unite Kenyans, but a country that does not have an opposition will not discharge its duties well,” Langat said.

While urging leaders across communities to unite and support Ruto, Langat additionally asked the president-elect’s competitors to accept defeat and support him.

He also challenged the DP to work for all Kenyans equally regardless of their political stand.

“We should not let those who didn’t vote for Ruto regret more instead they should be made happy and realize that politics is just a competition,” he said.

At the same time, Langat also acknowledged that Ruto had an uphill task awaiting him such as repaying loans and creating job opportunities for the youth.

“He won the hearts of many through his promises that gave hope to many. He should deliver his promise of creating job opportunities for the youth,” he added.
